Feel Starts at the Steel
Hollow, profile, and steel condition shape how the skate engages the ice.

Professional skate blade management for youth hockey.
Weekly blade preparation, professional profiling, and a documented setup built around each player.
Why EDGE
How that steel is prepared shapes feel, control, and confidence. It should not be left to memory, convenience, or guesswork.
Hollow, profile, and steel condition shape how the skate engages the ice.
Every service should follow a deliberate preparation and verification standard.
A saved specification makes the player’s setup easier to maintain and reproduce.
Blade Performance Services
EDGE combines ongoing blade management with professional profiling so each player’s setup can be prepared with intention and maintained over time.
EDGE sharpens, verifies, documents, and returns each player’s steel through participating team programs. Every service cycle references the saved player setup.
Profiling changes the shape and contact characteristics of the steel and can influence balance, stability, agility, glide, and how the player engages the ice. EDGE evaluates the current setup and helps create a more intentional, repeatable configuration.
Profiling establishes the setup. Weekly blade management helps maintain it.

Why Parents Love EDGE
No guessing. No separate trip to the pro shop. EDGE keeps the player’s setup documented and manages pickup, preparation, and return through participating programs.
Player Portal
Every player gets a profile. Every sharpening gets logged. Hollow, profile, steel health, and sharpening history stay together in one place and can be updated after each service.
Hollow and profile preferences stay saved with the player, reducing re-explaining and variation from service to service.
See recent sharpening records, the player’s blade profile specification, and steel wear over time.
Keep families informed when steel was serviced, when another service is due, and when replacement should be considered.
Built on Professional Experience
Built by Wisconsin All-American and former NHL/AHL player Mike Mersch, bringing together elite playing experience, USHL coaching, and a professional equipment-manager mindset.
Trusted by players from leading Chicago youth and high-school programs.
EDGE Blade Guide
Clear explanations of the blade decisions families are often expected to make without enough context.
Weekly Blade Management Membership
Weekly professional equipment management for eligible players, with steel returned before the next skate. Choose by weekly steel volume—not service quality.
Both plans receive the same equipment-management and quality-control standard. Pickup and delivery memberships are currently available only to players in Chicago Reapers, Chicago Mission, Glenbrook North, or St. Viator. Profiling is separate unless a specific offer states otherwise.
